Ingredients
  

For the Tea Base
  • 3/4 cup Thai tea leaves Look for brand names like ChaTraMue for the most authentic flavor.
  • 4 cups hot water Ensure it’s freshly boiled for maximum extraction.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust based on personal preference.
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor, balancing sweetness.
For Thai Style Serving (1 glass)
  • 1.5 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk Add to taste for extra creaminess.
  • 1 pint glass ice Fill the glass to enhance refreshment.
  • 2-3 tablespoons evaporated milk Drizzle on top for an extra creamy finish.
For American Style Serving (1 glass)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Optional, add more for extra sweetness.
  • 3-4 tablespoons half and half Approximately 12% cream for richness.

Method
 

Prepare the Tea Base
  1. Boil water and pour it over the 3/4 cup of tea leaves in a heatproof container. Steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Strain the steeped mixture using a fine mesh strainer into another container, leaving the leaves behind.
  3. Add the 1/4 cup sugar and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Stir until dissolved.
  4. Let the mixture cool to room temperature; this is your tea base.
Prepare Thai Style Serving
  1. Pour 3/4 cup of the cooled tea base into a glass.
  2. Stir in 1.5 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk.
  3. Pack a serving glass full of ice and pour in the prepared tea.
  4. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of evaporated milk on top.
Prepare American Style Serving
  1. Pour 3/4 cup of the cooled tea base into a glass.
  2. Stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  3. Fill a glass with ice and pour over the prepared tea.
  4. Finish with a drizzle of 3-4 tablespoons of half and half.

Notes

For the best results, use high-quality Thai tea leaves and fresh condiments. Store leftover tea base in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Experiment with spices like cinnamon or vanilla for unique flavors.
